Adobe Certified Expert [27 June 2009]
Yesterday I sat both Adobe Certified Expert [ACE] examinations for Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Illustrator CS4. Despite having already these professional exams a number of times since 2001 they never get any easier. Preparation is the key. The ACE Exams help me to focus on all the new features found in individual software applications. In addition these exams encourage me to explore and examine the workflow techniques between Creative Suite products. I'm delighted to report that I successfully past both ACE exams. Now I will be putting this new knowledge to good use in my creative work and in instructor-led training courses.

Humanitie Magazine [09 June 2009]
I've recently finished designing and laying-out the summer 2009 edition of Humanitie magazine. One of the fun things for me to do this time around was illustrate 'Sum' by David Eagleman for the front cover. This tale is from his new new book 'Sum : 40 Tales from the Afterlives'. I opted for a typographic approach and changed the numbers from words to numerals. The magazine will be available to buy from the Humanist Society of Scotland website soon.

It's certainly been a long time in the making, but at last I've finally redesigned DerekDigital.com. Feel free to have a look around. You'll find the Adobe software training course outlines have been updated for CS4 applications and I've included more creative work that I have designed for print, web and motion.
